The Perfect Bloody Mary

Do you remember the first time you had a bloody mary?

Maybe you tried a bloody mary at a holiday gathering? Or perhaps you were introduced to the bloody mary on vacation? Surely, you’ve enjoyed a bloody mary before tee off or kick-off! If you know the wonders of a well-made “morning elixir,” you know enough.

Bloody Marys are a brunch staple. But it wasn’t always.

In 2021, the Bloody Mary celebrated its 100th birthday. Harry’s New York Bar (which is, ironically, in Paris) is where this classic brunch cocktail was first imagined. Harry’s was a favorite of iconic cocktail-enthusiasts (and writers) F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemmingway. If Paris isn’t on your itinerary, we have a home-grown recipe for the Perfect Bloody Mary that won’t cost you an airfare.

Miss Mary's Original Bloody Mary Mix - Perfect for Brunch

Legendary Bloody Mary

The Bloody Mary is beloved in many places, but it is undisputed that Wisconsin made this classic cocktail legendary, with a garnish game that can only be defined as ‘art.’ It’s no wonder, then, that Miss Mary’s Original Bloody Mary Mix was born in Wisconsin.

How to garnish a Bloody Mary - Miss Mary's Original Bloody Mary Mix

The founders of Miss Mary’s Mix, Ryan & Tristina Timm, wanted to enjoy the popular cocktail at home and with friends but could never find a mix that fit their healthy lifestyle. The recipe for the perfect bloody mary was developed over several years of trying to create a robust flavor profile without resorting to filler ingredients.

Once the recipe was locked in, it was time to build a fan base. Ryan started selling the mix to golf courses and local grocers like Ptacek’s IGA
Word began to spread that there was a new bloody mary mix that combined better-for-you ingredients with a flavor that you wanted to sip again and again. The Original Miss Mary’s Mix picked up a handful of awards at Festivals and Spirit Competitions, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Miss Mary’s Tip

MAKE THE PERFECT BLOODY MARY FOR A CROWD Hemingway was a devotee to the Perfect Bloody Mary, and in the 'Papa's' own words, “make a pitcher of Bloody Marys (any smaller amount is worthless).”

Use the ratio of 3:1 when ordering and mixing pitchers of bloody marys. Home bartending doesn't require absolute precision, but this is good guidance to keep in mind while mixing.

For example, if you buy a 750ml of Tito's Premium Vodka, you should purchase 3 bottles of Miss Mary's Original Bloody Mary Mix.

If you're throwing a brunch or tailgate, why not order this Quick-Buy Collection with Original, Bold & Spicy, and Thick & Savory mixes? Your guests will love the variety. Instead of shaking in a tumbler, add the vodka and bloody mary mix to a large pitcher (or several?) and stir well to incorporate. Allow guests to pour their own. Maybe even award prizes for most creative garnish?
