How Do You Know if You're Ready for a Clean Start?
Whatever your motivation, a "clean start" when it comes to sugar and artificial sweeteners can change your life.
If you're here, chances are pretty good that you're ready for a clean start. Our Lean Into Clean workbook was created to accompany you on your clean start/ low-sugar journey with stories to inspire and tools to track your progress.
We include research from respected academic and media sources. We answer common questions and share ideas, links, and recipes to help you reach your goal. But first...
What does "Clean Start" even mean?
So many health problems can be traced to diet.
"Clean" is about the ingredients we consume and their affect on our health. Since it is unlikely that any of us has the time or skills to make every scrap of food we consume by hand, we owe it to ourselves to at least find the best products, with better-for-us ingredients. Right?
By "Start," we mean:
- Put your whole self into the journey and
- Ditch the things that no longer serve you.
What Does Low Sugar Have to Do with It?
Sugar provides our bodies with fast calories (energy). If those calories aren't burned right away, they are converted to fat for storage. About 70% of Americans are storing too much fat. Low-sugar diets made sugar-free products popular, but the artificial sweeteners used to make those products come with serious side-effects. Clean eating means not trading one problem for another. Ingredients matter.

So, Where Do You Begin?
Throughout the workbook, we look at different ways to "lean into clean." Where you start will be determined by where you are in your journey to low-sugar living. You might be just beginning and could benefit from a Sugar Detox. Or maybe you are ready to improve your gut health by eliminating artificial sweeteners. You'll go hunting for the offending products in your pantry and for clean ones to replace them.
Wherever you are, you're headed in the right direction. Keep going.

SET YOUR INTENTION
Give yourself the emotional space to state your goal. Name it out loud and on paper. Take a minute to think about it. Then picture your victory dance when you achieve it.
Change doesn't come easily for most of us.
You might also think about your "why?" and "why now?"
Hold onto that vision of success throughout your journey.

How Does Miss Mary's Fit In?
We learned the hard way about the importance of better-for-you ingredients. Products with high calories or high sugar count made us feel guilty. We knew they weren't good for us.
But we also feel strongly that no one should have to give up fun, social activities or be the killjoys in the room just because they want to make healthier choices.
We started Miss Mary's to make healthier choices for cocktail mixes, coffee syrups, and water enhancers available to everyone. Now, we're on a mission to redefine the low sugar living with better-for-you ingredients, one delicious sip at a time. Ready to come along?
