You'll Fall In Love With This Perfected Pink Drink (Keto Version)
Let's remake the Pink Drink with Sinless Syrups!
↪ JUMP TO RECIPE
The original "Pink Drink" launched in 2017 and gained major publicity as custom-orders and secret menus came into vogue. It remained popular enough to launch in a bottled form in 2023 and still makes the rounds on social media because of its highly-aesthetic qualities.
What is a Pink Drink?
The original Pink Drink is a green coffee latte with strawberry & acai flavors and coconut milk. It isn't quite as high in calories, carbs, or sugars as most of the specialty drinks at Starbucks, but it isn't low-sugar by any means.
The ingredients listed on the website are:
ICE, STRAWBERRY ACAI BASE [WATER, SUGAR, WHITE GRAPE JUICE CONCENTRATE, NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL GREEN COFFEE FLAVOR, COLORED WITH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE, REBAUDIOSIDE-A], COCONUTMILK [WATER, COCONUT CREAM, CANE SUGAR, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, COCONUT WATER CONCENTRATE, SEA SALT, NATURAL FLAVORS, XANTHAN GUM, GELLAN GUM, CORN DEXTRIN, GUAR GUM, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, AND VITAMIN D2], FREEZE-DRIED STRAWBERRIES
A 16 oz. Pink Drink contains:
- 140 calories
- 28g of carbohydrates
- 25g of sugar
- 45mg of caffeine.
For reference, the American Heart Association recommends that women should have no more than 25g of added sugar per day. As for the caffeine content, a regular cup of coffee has about 95mg of caffeine.)
Making a Perfected Pink Drink
To remake the Pink Drink, we obviously start with the sugar.
You could definitely make a Perfected Pink Drink with Madagascar Vanilla Sinless Syrup, but for the most authentic flavor, we suggest our Sinless Simple Syrup.
Using a naturally-sweetened, sugar-free syrup turns the sugary original into a keto-friendly alternative without sacrificing the sweet treat, the refreshing taste, or the beautiful aesthetic. That's pretty perfect.
To Caffeine or Not To Caffeine – Is That Your Question?
The Starbies Pink Drink has about 1/2 the caffeine of a cup of coffee. It uses "green coffee flavor." We're guessing this is either an extract or powder of green coffee, otherwise known as the unroasted seeds of the coffee plant.
There are two ways you can get this mild caffeine boost - use green coffee bean extract powder or use green tea instead. Green coffee powder will have a mild coffee flavor and be closest to the original. Green tea, on the other hand, has less caffeine and more anti-oxidants. Green tea is regularly heralded as one of the healthiest habits you can start for yourself.
Since our Perfected Pink Drink enjoys so many other flavors, you might want to swap in green tea. For more fruit kick, look for strawberry, raspberry, or hibiscus green tea.
PRO TIP: To reduce the bitterness in green tea, boil water to 170°F, steep for 3-4 minutes, and use quality loose-leaf tea.
If you'd prefer a caffeine-free drink, try the Stash Acai-Berry tea, Tazo Passion tea, or Republic of Tea Strawberry-Hibiscus tea. This is the direction we chose for the perfected pink drink.
What Else Do You Need for a Perfected Pink Drink?
Even though this is a refreshing, iced-drink, you'll need to boil hot water to steep the tea. If you have a proper kettle, you can easily just make one serving. You'll need about 6-8 oz. of tea.
For the creamy-coconut flavor, you'll want unsweetened coconut milk.
If you're a purist, you'll want some freeze-dried strawberries like these, but you can absolutely make this pretty, pink drink with fresh ones. We're going with fresh ones because we almost always have them.
That's it. This drink will absolutely look and taste like the glamorous & trendy pink drink you know, but with 0 added sugars we think it is even more perfect.
Hope you agree!
