White Chocolate brings back memories of roaming craft fairs as a child and getting the nod from mom to spend one, glorious dollar at the chocolate booth. Can you imagine the degree of difficulty of choosing just a single chocolate treat?
"And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could...
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
(from The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost)
The decision was made. Having never tasted white chocolate, this was a risk, but a calculated one. The 'chocolate lady' had never disappointed before. Once that cocoa butter hit the tongue, it was game over. Good night. Thank you. And tip your wait staff. Fan for life.
Why Isn't Everyone In Love With White Chocolate Mocha?
To our great surprise, white chocolate wasn't always available. Sure, you had your odd candy bar (anyone remember Zero?) and the peanut butter candies coated in white chocolate during the big candy holidays. The fancy chocolatiers like Ghirardelli offered white chocolate syrup but only if you could get to their store. (This was the olden days before Amazon.) You can probably picture the celebration car-dancing that happened when Starbucks released the White Chocolate Mocha. It was... embarrasing.
Fast-forward to the low sugar living era and womp-womp - we're back to no white chocolate. Until now. With the release of the Winter Delights Collection, we are drinking White Chocolate Mocha on the DAILY. WOO!
We'll try to not sell you too hard on this. You don't have to be a super-fan, white-chocolate face painter like we are in order to enjoy this delicious drink.
WHITE CHOCOLATE GOES WITH EVERYTHING
It's hard to explain without doing an absurd amount of research into taste buds and food chemistry but white chocolate goes with everything.
For the Autumn fans, Pumpkin Spice White Chocolate Mocha may quite possibly change your life. No, really. White Chocolate adds fullness and creaminess to the pumpkin spice so you get the spice-forward cinnamon/clove/nutmeg thrill but it is mellowed by the white mocha so the finish is velvety and smooth.
If you're more of a mint fan, try Peppermint Pattie White Chocolate Mocha. In this case, the peppermint and dark chocolate are already creamy, rich, and cool. The White Chocolate fills that flavor out, kind of like adding butter to a recipe. You probably could go with less, but once you taste it with more... you won't ever go with less again.
SIMPLY DELICIOUS
The White Chocolate Mocha is one of those specialty coffee drinks that tastes more complicated to make than they really are. For this recipe, you will only need espresso, cream, milk, and White Chocolate Sugar Free Sinless Syrups. As with most specialty coffee drinks, you can substitute your preferred milk. We're making this one with coconut milk and coconut cream because, as we mentioned, we're currently having this every day.
Pour Sugar Free Sinless Syrups White Chocolate syrup into a mug.
Add the cream. (Although this step is optional, there is a significant taste advantage. The fat in the cream - yes, even coconut cream - is satisfying to your brain and help satiate cravings. However, eliminating the cream saves about 30 calories and 3g of fat.)
Pull 2 shots of espresso and steam milk.
Add espresso and milk to mug. Stir to combine.
OPTIONAL: Top with Sugar Free Whipped Cream using Sinless Syrups and a dusting of real cocoa powder. Mmmmm. You can use White Chocolate, Peppermint Pattie, Pumpkin Spice, Madagascar Vanilla… really any of them would be delicious. Remember, White Chocolate plays so well with others.
